The international electronic music party brand Space Yacht is getting ready to launch its second collection of non-functional token (NFT) artworks on the Nifty Gateway market on Wednesday.
Entitled „Space Yacht iconography collection“, the NFTs present three of the brand’s main themes: pizza, emoticons and its slogan, „WE ARE SO F*ED“.
The works of art also incorporate original music by Space Yacht co-founder Rami Perlman, also known as LondonBridge.
Twelve months ago, Space Yacht was best known for organising over 150 electronic music events, or EDMs, globally each year. However, when the COVID-19 pandemic hit, the event industry virtually closed.
The brand transformed itself into the digital world by launching a record label, hiring artists who would previously be at its events.
However, during the summer, Space Yacht launched its first collection of NFTs, a collaboration with renowned digital artist Goldweard. This became the fastest selling NFT on the Nifty Gateway market, with over 230 pieces sold in just 3 minutes and 28 seconds.
The brand hopes to repeat its success for the second time with the Iconography collection.
Perlman has been a collector of physical art for 15 years and sees digital art as an exciting extension of that, and also as a new revenue stream for musicians and artists, saying:
„The more people who come in, the more viable it will be for the future. We are confident that NFTs will become a force within the industry and a new way for musicians and digital artists to monetize their work. ”
Although pizza has long been revered in the crypto world, the use of pizza as a theme by the Space Yacht pays tribute to a tradition that occurs at all of its live events, i.e. that the founders distribute free pizza on the dance floor at 1:00 AM.
Last week, electronic music producer and DJ Deadmau5 and augmented reality designer Sutu sold their unique collaboration „In Titan’s Light“ for 78 Ether (ETH), or almost $50,000. Producer Guy J also jumped on the blockchain, selling the rights to future streaming royalties.
