Looking Up

Good morning,

We have relocated to a roomier place.  In the process, we changed Internet servers and as it turns out, they are not equipped to handle the large volume of emails that we send out through this newsletter and the other various mailing lists that we offer.  We are in the process of changing back to the other Internet server that we were using before the move.  Whenever that happens, this newsletter and other automated emails will all go out in a big "ta-da!" moment.  In the meantime, we are able to respond to individual emails and to customer service issues, so if you need something resent, send us a note to CustomerService@TomorrowsEdge.net and we'll get back to you shortly.

take care,

Skye Thomas

Quote of the Week:

"There is a marvelous story of a man who once stood before God, his heart breaking from the pain and injustice in the world.  'Dear God,' he cried out, 'look at all the suffering, the anguish and distress in the world.  Why don't you send help?'  God responded, 'I did.  I sent you.' - David J. Wolpe

"We do not have to visit a madhouse to find disordered minds; our planet is the mental institution of the universe." - Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

"Angels transcend every religion, every philosophy, every creed. In fact angels have no religion as we know it... their existence precedes every religious system that has ever existed on earth." - St. Thomas Aquinas

Feature Article of the Week:

Hearing Voices

Have you ever been deep in thought or even sound asleep when suddenly a voice calls out your name?  You look around and nobody is there.  It is usually followed by a message or a deep sense of intuition that protects you, guides you, or somehow helps you along your way.  Sometimes the voice calls out to you to pay attention just as another vehicle is about to sideswipe your car.  You are able to take notice and avoid the accident.  Other times it wakes you up from a sound sleep to let you know that you need to check on one of your children before they wake up from a nightmare.  In a war situation, it calls out to warn you that there is an enemy sneaking up on you.  Sometimes, it is just an amazingly beautiful full moon with nobody to admire it, and you sit up in bed looking out your window feeling incredibly close to some spiritual guardian that watches over you and your family.

Who are the voices?  Are they really guardian angels, God, or just some primitive caveman instinct within us that calls out its warnings?  Why does the voice that calls out to us usually sound like a strong male voice?  Some hear a gentle woman's voice, and a few of us even hear a chorus of voices all speaking in unison.  This has nothing to do with imaginary playmates or schizophrenia.  These voices do not hang out and chat with us whenever we like.  These are voices that only come when they want to come and have a very specific purpose for sounding some form of an alarm or a simple "heads-up pay attention" type message.  They have an amazing accuracy rate and seem to have no emotional attachment to whether or not we listen to them.  They will repeat themselves until we finally listen, but they do not have that panic sound like a loving parent who has an emotionally vested interest in seeing us survive life's challenges.

I believe that the particular voice you hear will be directly related to your personal belief system.  If you believe deeply in a masculine God, then you are more likely to hear a male voice forewarning you of impending doom.  If you believe more in a feminine Goddess, then you are more likely to hear her voice calling out to you in times of trouble.  Outside of a theological belief system, we can see the traditional biological roles have the most power over whom we hear.  Men are traditionally the protectors, the guardians, the sentinels that look over the villagers, so it makes sense that a male voice calling out would ignite a certain amount of respect, "no questions asked, just do it" type of a response.  A female voice is going to push more of a nurturing psychological button within our psyches so it would make sense that in extreme danger we might not hear a feminine voice.  The female voice would be more likely to nudge us towards checking on the sleeping baby who is close to smothering under its blankets or to check on a fellow friend who just so happens to be near suicidal with depression and loneliness.  However, what of the group voice, the collective?  Who are they and what reason do they have to call on us?

From what information I have gathered the group collective calls out when it is a large-scale humanitarian need.  The collective calls you to do great spiritual works, to care for humanity as a whole, to save large groups from disasters, and to find your place amongst the great leaders in history.  Looking at the frequency of events, it makes more sense that most of the time we hear the male guardian calling out our name warning us of how to avoid some form of physical harm.  Regardless, of whether God is a man, a woman, or a collection of souls, the voice comes to each individual in a format that will motivate them to want to listen.

Most people do not have an issue with hearing a guiding voice that helps them to avoid trouble, to guide them, and to reassure them that all is going well.  For most people, the issue is their inability to get the voices to engage in a two-way conversation at will.  "How do I get them to talk to me about what I want to talk about whenever I want to talk?"  You don't.  They are not our playmates.  We are supposed to handle things pretty much on our own.  They are only here for the big important emergencies.  If you are doing a fairly decent job of going about your life, then you are not likely to hear the voices very often.  If you are meant to do some big sacred thing like cure Cancer, bring about a political revolution, or feed the hungry, then yes, you will probably spend your entire life arguing with those voices until you finally give in to your calling.  Silence from the heavens is usually a good thing.  You are on the right path, doing the right thing, loving the right people, and relatively safe from harm.  Most people are living their lives the way they are meant to live, and so only need an occasional "hey watch out for that car that is going to cut you off in traffic" and not much more from the heavenly voices.

The biggest problem with trying to get to the real answer as to who or what they are is that there are as many charlatans telling lies for the sake of getting attention as there are genuine stories of angels and spirit guides saving us from harm's way.  Filtering out the truth from the lies is next to impossible because of the nature of all things religious and spiritual.  It is always one person's word against another.  Only the voices know for sure.
