Looking Up
Hello everyone,
Children are getting antsy about the end of another school year and the beginning of another summer vacation. Road trips are being planned, cabins are being rented, houseguests are being scheduled... this is shaping up to be one of the least productive summers of my life. And I cannot say that I am one bit sorry.
take care,
Skye Thomas

June 2011 Sagittarius Horoscope
Quote of the Week:
You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around
you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference
you want to make. -
It's the action, not the fruit of the action, that's important. You have to do the
right thing. It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there'll
be any fruit. But that doesn't mean you stop doing the right thing. You may never
know what results come from your action. But if you do nothing, there will be no
result. -
If you judge people, you have no time to love them. -
Feature Article of the Week:
In Search of a Spiritual Calling
Since I am self-
That was a lot harder to do when I was working in a normal Corporate America office job. "Sorry boss! Today I'm in the mood to channel my spirit guides, so I won't be able to finish that cost analysis report, maybe tomorrow!" It is challenging to be 'in the zone' or 'in the flow' with spirit and work professionally on someone else's timelines. I think that is why as people become more in touch with their spiritual sides, they start searching for careers that will not only fulfill them emotionally and spiritually, but will also pay the bills in a timely manner.
Good luck! Spiritual callings seldom pay well, they are never easy, and quite often you will have to carry on without the esteem and praise of your peers. It is usually a tedious thankless job and the working conditions are often less than cozy. You usually have to go it alone for a long time without loving support before someone notices what you are doing and decides that you are a hero. People are more likely to question your sanity than to embrace your vision. Think I am being negative? Look at Mother Theresa, Ghandi, Moses, Jane Goodall, and the rest. How many great spiritual leaders, truly spiritual people called to do important work live a luxurious effortless lifestyle? Not many.
I am not saying there is anything wrong with wanting to serve mankind on a spiritual level. It is a beautiful and sacred journey that teaches, heals, and rewards the person serving just as much as the person who is being served. It is just that so many people are begging the heavens to assign them a spiritual calling. They struggle, search, and pace endlessly looking for that cosmic career that is going to make their corner of the world a better place while also handing over a paycheck that will cover the expenses of ordinary life.
People who have a special mission know what it is. No praying, questioning, or debating as to what it might be. You know what it is and it knows where to find you no matter how hard you may try to turn your back and hide from it. I did not make a decision to follow this path. I did not search for it. It chose me. I had some arguing and fighting to do before I had beaten myself up enough to see that the visions were true. However, it was always right there waiting and it was never patient about waiting. Think again about Mother Theresa, Ghandi, Moses, etc.
You do not hesitate; you do not meditate about it. It is there, it is yours to do, and you know it instantly in your heart. You know that regardless of how big or small you may feel... that you are the one who must do it. It is not a martyr thing. It is just a knowing. You do not search out your destiny. It calls to you loud and clear. If you have a spiritual calling, then you know it in your heart of hearts. You may argue over whether or not you want to do it, but you know what it is.
If you simply have a nagging suspicion that you should be doing something else, something more spiritual with your life, then you are right. However, unless you hear something or see something that just smacks you upside the head as absolutely definitely 'it', then you are free to pick and choose whatever path you want.
Most people want to do something more spiritual with their lives and would love for it to also be their profession. That makes sense, but that is not usually how it works. As more and more people connect with that piece of themselves that wants to be creative, healing, nurturing, and intuitively connected to humanity, it is only natural to want to channel that desire into one's daily work.
Nobody enjoys doing meaningless, boring, uninspired work day in and day out. However, the truth is, those tasks need done whether we are inspirational or bitter. It is like that old saying, "Before enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After enlightenment, chop wood, carry water." Such is the way of life on this planet.
We cannot all of us be artists, musicians, actors, writers, and at-
If you are one of those souls who knows enough to want to be called into spiritual work, but you are not absolutely positively called to roll up your sleeves and work on a specific problem, then put all of that love, service, compassion, inspiration, and spirituality into whatever job you find that will pay the bills and does not drive you insane. Do not sit around waiting to be called, infuse the work you do with all of the beauty and soul that you would give a spiritual calling if you had one.
