Looking Up

Good morning,

Sometimes, when I am digging through the files containing paper copies of my articles, I get a strong sense that there is a specific article that is "meant" to be used for that week's newsletter.  I always heed that feeling and am always rewarded with at least one email from someone on the mailing list telling me how that particular article was exactly what they needed to read at that moment in their life.

Today's article called out to me loud and clear in that same manner.  So whoever you are, this one's for you!

take care,

Skye Thomas

This Week's News of Interest:

Troubleshooting Email Problems

To help resolve the slow emailing issue, beginning February 2nd 2009, we will use two email addresses to send out this newsletter, instead of just one.

TextVersion@TomorrowsEdge.net

Newsletter@TomorrowsEdge.com

Yes, one is .net and the other is .com.  The website www.TomorrowsEdge.com was not available until about a year after we launched the .net website.  However, we still bought the .com site once it was for sale.  We have tried to use it for various things, but have not had success getting Google to take it seriously.  At this time, it just forwards you back to the main .net site.

Please tell your email servers (like Yahoo, AOL, Gmail, Earthlink, etc) to allow emails from both of these addresses to pass through their spam filters.

Quote of the Week:

"Courage is what it takes to stand up and speak.  Courage is also what it takes to sit down and listen." - Winston Churchill

"It's the action, not the fruit of the action, that's important.  You have to do the right thing.  It may not be in your power, may not be in your time, that there'll be any fruit. But that doesn't mean you stop doing the right thing.  You may never know what results come from your action.  But if you do nothing, there will be no result." - Gandhi

"Courage is not the lack of fear.  It is acting in spite of it." - Mark Twain

Feature Article of the Week:

A Warrior's Soul

If I had to pick just one word to describe the soul of a warrior, I would choose the word "passion."  Warriors do not sit on their sofas taking anti-depressants while channel surfing through reality TV shows.  Warriors are not sheeple (the slang word that describes too many people who blindly follow groupthink instead of thinking for themselves.)  Warriors are action-oriented people who are passionate about solving problems.  They are often confused with bullies, tyrants, and would-be-dictators.  Warriors do not seek war, nor will they cower and hide if it is truly the only way to solve a problem.  Warriors hold in their soul a passionate love for something or someone - and they have made a vow to protect that precious object of their love with their life if need be.  In a time when we are so desperately in need of a balance from too much male energy gone unchecked towards more of the feminine energy, I want for us to take a moment and honor that which is masculine at its best.  The warrior's soul is a beautiful and sacred thing that we must not lose sight of while bringing our world back into balance.

When a man loves a woman, he makes a vow to himself to keep her safe.  He will die if that is what it takes to keep her from harm.  We women find that amazingly romantic and sexy.  It is the divine masculine energy.  It is true that we do not usually go looking for soft woosy men.  If a man lays his life on the line to protect his wife, his children, his village, or his country he is considered a hero.  The warrior's soul within him is honored and admired.

I know a woman I will call Freedom Warrior.  She is an ex-soldier who is now fighting to keep our basic freedoms intact here in America.  She loves her country passionately and gave years of her life to the military to fight for our freedoms.  Now she works as an activist to continue protecting those constitutional rights that have always meant so much to her.  Some would call her a troublemaker, a liberal hippie, a non-conformist.  I see her as the same soldier fighting for freedom that she always was.  If she had died in battle protecting this country, we would have called her a hero.  Now she stands tall with a warrior's soul, doing whatever it takes to get our politicians to stop allowing greed and personal agendas to erode away the very foundations of what this country was founded upon.  She does not need anyone's blessing, approval, nor feedback to decide what is right or wrong.  For her it is all quite black and white.  She made a passionate promise years ago to protect her country and the freedoms of the people who live here.  She stands by that promise because it is the core of her warrior's soul.

I know another woman I will call Marine Warrior.  She lives with her family on a houseboat in Florida.  Year after year, she endures horrendous storms while others mock her for her choice of residence.  The truth is, she has a passionate love of the marine life and feels a calling to clean those beaches and to heal the animals of the sea.  Where else would she live?  She prays over those waters and actively does all that she can to protect the sea animals.  She is an incredibly gentle soul who weeps for every one of the dead bodies that she finds on her shores.  She is riding out another storm tonight as I write this even though others would call her crazy for staying in such a volatile climate.  That is what warriors do, they stick it out because they are passionate about loving something or someone and they do not run away from that which they have vowed to protect.

I know a man I will call Children's Warrior.  He knows in his heart of hearts that children need someone safe, happy, and encouraging to learn from.  He is a camp counselor for a church youth group and every year he gives passionately of his time and energy to be all that those children need.  He knows from his own experiences the horrible nightmares and traumas that childhood can hold, so he makes sure that the children in his charge are never afraid, never heartbroken, and never feel defeated.  He is a warrior called to be a positive role model for our children.  Many would say that he should spend more time doing manly guy things instead of singing campfire songs with a bunch of teenagers and letting them shave his hair into a Mohawk every summer.  He does not need anyone's approval, he is strong in who he is, and he has got the gentlest kindest heart you could meet.  He is an advocate for all children's causes because that is the passion in his soul.  He protects the children's hearts.

Many would discard all things masculine and warrior-like during this era of transition.  So many New Age folks want to reclaim the feminine soul of love, compassion, and forgiveness, that they would discourage everyone from utilizing the warrior within.  Remember my friends; the goal is to bring things into balance, not to allow the feminine to run unchecked as we allowed the masculine to do.  Just as a father can weep for heartfelt love and joy at the sight of his newborn child, a mother can kill to protect her children from a predator.  Both have their place; both reside within each of us.  I am a Balance Warrior.  I am passionate about helping people find balance.  It is much easier to let the pendulum swing back and forth between extremes.  Conservatives and Liberals.  Masculine and Feminine.  Black and White.  Straight and Gay.  Tolerance and Justice.  Love and Hate.  Trust and Forgiveness.  They all have their place; find balance and you will find peace.
