Looking Up
Good morning,
Things are crazy busy around here with my youngest going back to school after his holiday break, teenagers waiting for college classes to start up again, and I've got tons of work taunting me from my inbox. It must be the first Monday in January! Ha ha!
take care,

Quote of the Week:
It was in Poor Richard's Almanac that Ben Franklin wrote about astrology, saying: "Oh the wonderful knowledge to be found in the stars. Even the smallest things are written there...if you had but skill to read."
Physicist Albert Einstein said: "Astrology is a science in itself and contains an illuminating body of knowledge. It taught me many things and I am greatly indebted to it."
Physicist Sir Isaac Newton said in defense of astrology, to skeptic Edmund Halley: "I have studied the matter. You sir, have not."
Feature Article of the Week:
2010 -
History repeats itself. You could say that it is because man does not learn the lessons of history or does not think that history's lessons pertain to his generation. Whatever the reason, history does have a tendency to repeat itself. As an astrologer, I can see that as the planets circle around and around the sun occasionally repeating various patterns and cycles. Just like the new moon and full moon cycles, everything comes back around full circle astrologically speaking. As 2010 begins, we have two major cycles coming back around AND they are clashing with each other. This is not necessarily a bad thing.
Cycle #1 -
It takes Pluto 246 years to circle all the way around the sun one time and therefore to travel through all twelve zodiac signs. Each time Pluto changes zodiac signs we see big generational changes. Pluto digs deep down into the core of a zodiac sign, ferrets out how that zodiac sign might look if allowed to run in excess, forces us to look at the flaws in society as they pertain to that specific zodiac sign, and then expects us to fix, heal, clean, modify, or somehow change things.
The last time Pluto passed through Capricorn, we experienced both the French and
American Revolutions. Therefore, it is not surprising to see Iran and other countries
experiencing unrest. People want a say in how they are governed. They want a more
democratic reality. Once again, the "peasants" are revolting against the "royalty".
While it is true that there are always battles for independence, freedom, and self-
We may celebrate July 4th, 1776 as our Independence Day, but it took years to build up to that point. People did not go to bed on July 3rd feeling as if everything was just fine and then woke up on the morning of the 4th thinking, "Hey wouldn't it be cool if we became an independent nation?!" That did not happen until the end of Pluto's visit through Capricorn. Revolutions take time to simmer and time to build up to a full boil.
Why does Pluto's travels through Capricorn inspire such things? Because Pluto forces
us to look at reality. Capricorn rules over professional goals and aspirations,
leadership, public reputation, success, fame, civic duty, and our role in society.
Are you a loser, a dumb peasant, a slave, a blue-
Pluto moved into Capricorn in January of 2008 and will leave in January 2024. He has had a little time to settle in and have a look around. Various countries all over the world are being forced to take a long hard look at how they have structured their "Ladder of Success" game. Corrupt governments, corporations, societies, and outlooks will be hit hard by Pluto's travels through Capricorn. Revolution often involves bloodshed, pain, and hard work. But it is better than the alternative, allowing the corrupt and greedy to reign without compassion and integrity.
I wish I could say that Iran and the other countries that will battle over democratic principles will see their "new day" by the end of 2010. However, that is not how these things go. Their battles will continue, but Pluto is a slow and patient planet. He will not be leaving the battle any time soon.
Cycle #2 -
I have discussed this in the monthly horoscopes over the last couple of years. Back
in 1965 and 1966, Saturn was passing through Pisces and Uranus was passing through
Virgo. They opposed each other during this two-

In 2010, Jupiter will join Uranus and help the younger generation move towards innovation and change.
Mutable versus Cardinal Zodiac Signs
Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. They bring in new concepts. Seasons begin.
Fixed signs are Taurus, Leo, Scorpio, and Aquarius. They hold the status quo. Seasons hold stable.
Mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Sagittarius, and Pisces. They tear down what is no longer working. Seasons end.
Back in the 60's and again in 2008 and 2009, the opposition between Saturn and Uranus happened in mutable signs. The focus then and now has been on what no longer works, on finding faults in other people's views, of recognizing that change is necessary. We have spent the last couple of years arguing over who is too big to fail, whether or not various systems and governing policies are still relevant, etc. We have panicked and cried as our old ways of doing things came tumbling down around us.
In 2010, Saturn and Uranus will battle one last time (with Jupiter's help). This time, they will start out in mutable zodiac signs, but will move into cardinal signs. That means that the nature of the battle changes drastically. We move away from noticing what "no longer works" and we begin focusing on "rebuilding."
We will argue over what to build, how to build, what the "new day" should look like,
what kind of systems, regulations, etc will help us to rebuild. We are still bickering,
but it is about growth instead of death. That in and of itself makes it a better
energy. And then in mid-
The Intersection
There is a time during the summer of 2010 when Pluto's revolutionary energy clashes with both ends of the Saturn/Uranus battle. Jupiter will have caught up with Uranus by then. This means that Neptune will be the only big titan of the zodiac NOT involved in the battle. At that point, all four planets will be in cardinal signs. It will be the peak of the battle and also the grand finale.
It is my belief that because of the cardinal signs and because Jupiter and Uranus are teaming up to inspire innovation, green technology, universal education, and global brotherhood, that they will "win" in the battle against Saturn who is stuck in the old ways.
I also believe that Pluto's desire to help the little guy so that he has a fighting chance at real success in the game of life, will work well with Jupiter and Uranus' new approaches to old problems.
Those of you stuck in the old ways will probably see this as a time when all hell broke loose. When I look at the New Year before me, I see the end of an old battle about old things fought in an old way. And I see the rebuilding of a "new and improved" way of life for most of us. I visualize saws, hammers, blueprints, clean sunny skies, and people happy to work building a future they can feel gives them a fair chance at success. I see economic, political, and religious freedom growing stronger around the world.
No, I do not see us living in some type of utopian lala land. I do not see the economy back to where it was, but I do see it getting better, especially after September. I do not see the Democrats and Republicans holding hands and singing campfire songs together, but I do see our government moving forward and no longer stuck in gridlock. I see us digging ourselves out of a hole. I see us working our buns off, but happy to be doing so. And yes, I hear some old folks in the background complaining that these kids aren't doing it right, not like they did it back in their day.
